South Africa Opens New Digital Marketing Procurement Opportunity Through DBSA Tender Process

The Development Bank of Southern Africa, DBSA, has officially opened a new procurement opportunity for companies operating in digital marketing, brand development, and integrated communications, following the publication of RFP 090/2026 earlier this week.

The tender calls for the appointment of an integrated digital marketing and development partner to support DBSA’s communications and strategic engagement initiatives. The opportunity forms part of the institution’s broader infrastructure and development financing mandate across South Africa and the African continent.

According to the DBSA procurement notice, the request for proposals was published on 26 May 2026, with submissions scheduled to close on 19 June 2026 at 23:55. A compulsory virtual briefing session has been scheduled for 8 June 2026 at 10:00 via Microsoft Teams.

The opportunity is expected to attract participation from:

  • Digital marketing agencies
  • Brand strategy firms
  • Public relations and communications companies
  • Software and web development providers
  • Data analytics and campaign performance firms
  • Multimedia production companies

While DBSA has not publicly disclosed the contract value, the institution manages major infrastructure, development finance, and public sector programmes across transport, energy, water, housing, and municipal development sectors. Winning service providers are therefore likely to gain exposure to high-level institutional campaigns and government-linked development initiatives.

The tender arrives at a time when South African public institutions are accelerating digital engagement strategies and procurement modernisation, creating increased participation opportunities for local technology and communications firms.

DBSA’s procurement pipeline currently includes multiple strategic requests for proposals linked to industrial competitiveness, spatial economic activity analysis, and public infrastructure support programmes.

Businesses intending to participate will need to comply with South African public procurement requirements, including supplier registration, tax compliance, and relevant technical capability documentation.

For small and medium-sized enterprises operating in South Africa’s growing digital economy, the tender represents a commercially significant opportunity to secure long-term institutional work within one of the country’s key development finance institutions.
